SAD: Seasonal Affect Disorder....a type of depression that affects a person the same season every year.
Affecting people from ages 15 to 55. What are the causes? Lack of Sunlight. Lack of sleep-wake cycle & other circadian rhythms. Causing decreased Serotonin, a chemical in the brain that affects our mood.
How does this affect your health? Tend to eat more, and the craving of more carbs. Therefore, increased weight gain. How to work through it? Regular exercise, and more daily activity during day time hours. Whether you like to walk, ride a bike, or swim. Increase of daily exercise decreases SAD from affecting your life.
