Love Yourself

Being a young kid, can be hard. Being an adult can be just as cruel. How do I know? It wasn't easy growing up obese. I was tormented daily by classmates and upper classmen. I've heard it all! Back then, you dealt with it. Maybe not in the best of ways, but I do not recall ever seeing or hearing what I have over the course of 20yrs as a parent. 

I'm watching parents be so consumed in their own life. They have forgotten the true meaning of being a parent. You have to give up material items, and some of the fun you use to have.  You have to be a parent and not a friend. Does that mean give up on yourself totally? Let yourself go? No, it means knowing your children and what's upsetting them and what's giving them courage to move each day. We live in a "convient" world. McDonalds, Jack N The Box, Arby's, Wendy's, and my kids favorite, Taco Bell. All of which are not just convient. They are unhealthy. Loaded with all the wrong nutrients for not just kids, but adults too. My kids lived off McDonalds for a number of years and it has cost their health. Who's fault is it? It is clearly mine. I was busy working and McDonalds was the quickest choice. Clearly the wrong choice. It's never too late to change the habits I created. Yet, I had to do them slowly. As a parent, and adult. It is our responsibility to protect our family. We desire our kids to bury us, and not the other way around. It's never too late to change your household and make it better for everyone. Here is when I became concerned about my household and what a slap it was. I became more concerned about my children's health after hearing "low self-esteem" comments. Thinking, where did I go wrong? I know now, Evolv has not just saved my life. I have 2 teenage girls and one teenage boy still at home. My daughter is overweight, my foster daughter is underweight. My son is overweight. My daughter has always been very confident in who she is. She's always walked around and said how beautiful she is. She truly is beautiful. Her faith in The Lord, her attitude to Help Others. Her love to put someone else first before her. Yet, I saw a sad daughter too. She was being bullied, she was being threatened, and it was getting out of hand. I sat down with my daughter and explained that weight is not the true issue here. It's about being healthy. Those who have low self esteem will try to take you down with them. Changes began. She was diagnosed as a Hypothyroid, back in 2008. Medication was issued, and told "she should see a drop in weight fairly quickly." When we noticed the first 30 days was no change, it was time to modify the thought about how to eat, and educate on what to eat. We began slowly. Remember that kids can get turned off easily from quick changes and being told "you have to eat this and not this." It just makes them want to eat what they shouldn't. We also dealt with issues of pain/inflammation from the car accident 2 years ago. Displaced hip, and the pain has been unbearable on most days. My son is a big kid. He is a Freshman, and looks like he is in his 20's. His issues are ADD/OD with weight concerns. He has had major depression and suicidal thoughts. Relaxation = Healthy Body & Mind

We have spoken about how taking time out for you is beneficial. It's Time To Relax

We work, and we work hard every day. Responsibilities are among us, and we move along like robots. There are times where we need to sit back, and let the mind flow. Do you do that? How many times a week, month, year, do you relax and let the mind flow. 

It's been a rough week. Worked our job, taken care of our kids, attended to our husband/wife. Whatever our responsibilities are, we have accomplished them. We have done what is expected and sometimes go above and beyond at times. What about you? Did you take time out for you? 

Take a moment, and think about what's important in today's society. We go and go and go. No time to just think about us. We are taking care of us, but are we REALLY taking care of ourselves. No, we are not. We are doing what is expected of us, and that can cause us to breakdown. 

STOP! Take a moment. Take an hour. Take 1/2 a day off and find that time for just YOU. Maybe you need a 1/2 a day or just an hour with you and your partner. Take that time to find a comfortable spot. Everyone Has A Story; What's Your Story?

Everyone has a story. What does that mean? It means that we all have lived some type of life. Good or bad, happy,or sad. Everyone has something to offer someone. That one small piece of information you share? Well, it can make all the difference in someone's day. How they think, react, respond. What's your story? My husbands story is not unique. His story is real! He's not ready to publicly place it on my YouTube, but he has given me permission to write about his story with Evolv. For anyone that is a recovering, or trying to recover from alcohol, drugs, depression. He is asking that you read his story. 

My husband was taking pain killers, anti-depressants and anti-anxiety meds. His daily schedule was getting up in the AM, taking a pain pill, an anti-anxiety med, and his antidepressant. He admits he is an introvert, yet on the outside you wouldn't know it. He puts up a great front. As he explained. He doesn't have to feel this way anymore. So why is he telling his story now? He hopes it can save just one person. 

He took pain meds to get up. He took anti-anxiety meds to be able to socialize. He took anti-depressants to control the anger deep within. He drank daily, and our marriage was on the verge of being over. 

He begged me one evening after work to make it all stop. He begged me to not leave, and that he didn't want to be this way anymore. He said, baby, I know all the battles with your health. Our attitudes are totally different. Our outlook on our lives has completely changed. We work together, and we discuss how we feel every day. It's like getting to know each other again.

He was telling me how he is ready to get up every day and that's only the beginning. Are Purpose & Motivation The Same In Terms?

On April 11th, we blogged about What's Your Motivator. Over 50+ or you read our blog. Today I want to review Purpose. Why Purpose? If you have Motivation, You have Purpose. Definitions of Motivation and Purpose.

There are so many reasons why we get up and go to work. We go because we have to pay rent, electric, food, gas, etc.. That's if you are single. Those are the basics to start. Then we have a partner. When we love someone, we have lost the desire for ourselves, and changed it to US. So now your Pupose is about the protection to the two of you. One person always accepts responsibility to the house. Yet it should be an equal effort correct? Both should take ownership. Not always can this be the case. You accept that person for who they are. They have strong points, as you. Weak points, as you. 

We then come to either your single or your united with someone. If your single, you still are struggling inside with something. Most the time. It's that your not feeling completed. You want more. What is your Pupose to Motivaton? Work is old, it's everyday. Yes, we all have Stress with work. Yet we have some type of something that hits us about the day. Maybe it was how you helped someone, and that gave you a great sense of gratification. Maybe you bonused today, and your thinking about what to do with that bonus check. Maybe that "special person" said the one thing you love to hear, yet you held back. Something gave you Motivation to keep going with your day. Google over Doctors?

Interesting statement tonight. "People use Google for their Health Needs, versus a Professional Doctor"..... Is this true for you? If so, why?
