My husband came home from work back in November 2013. He said that we needed to review his new Health Insurance and make a decision. Feeling as though this could go sour. I made some shakes and we looked it over. From the beginning, it stated. "You will go thru a series of questions and blood tests. You will be measured, and swabbed for nicotene, prescription drugs, illegal drugs, and alcohol." We have done this each year, only this time? A TWIST! "You will be weighed, cholesterol checked, fasting blood sugar checked, with BMI Index." Should your BMI be above your height vs weight level, you will be charged extra on your monthly Preminum based on level above BMI Index. So, it was time to get healthy. My husband was getting ready to be charged $54 more due to being 2pts above his BMI Index. Even though I believe this is not appropriate, and my husband has great insurance. Your telling all the workers that they will be paying extra for being "over weight". So, they incentive them. Get on a Wellness, or Weight Management program, and we will pay for it. Currently, his Insurance is reviewing our previous monthly purchases to re-pay for Visalus as his Weight Management program.
It's time to take charge. Make that Lifestyle change. It's becoming a trending way for Insurance companies to make extra money. Why pay them what you can possibly reimbursed for? Your healthy, dropping the cost. They may pay you for getting healthy. Currently, they are giving us a Gym membership paid for by the Insurance company.
