Cancer Deaths on the Rise

The Holloywood and Sports family has seen more Cancer related deaths lately, and as a woman in remission. I do see the latest death of Stuart Scott as concerning. He was a very young man. He had broken into the ESPN Sports world with his wonderful talent. He is missed greatly! By his family, friends, and colleagues. Cancer deaths lately, have been noted in younger adults. The question I ask to anyone is, what are we not doing right?  We cannot question God and his decisions, but we can work harder to get answers to cure or reduce the risks. I began to research the past of my grandmother. She is 90 years old. Something she did, or was eating obviously is keeping her going. She has genetic CLL, a form of Leukemia. I have been diagnosed with genetic CLL since 2003. She is 90 years old. I am currently 43 years old. As I look back over Stuart Scott's battle. The age difference is not that far apart. Between him & I, only 6 years. What did my grandmother do, that we do not promote these days. It hit me!

Our grandparents lived in a very rough time. They took those lessons from days of Depression, and kept those very scary times locked into their current day ways. Starting with hoarding. They call it saving. I would have to agree with "saving." It was something I said I would never do. It has been seen by me repeatedly, but now! It makes sense!

When the Depression hit. It was more imperative to live off the land. Gardens were huge, and hunting for your meat was all that you could offer your family to eat. I remember my grandfather saying. "I only made $.50 cents a week." How did they buy a 1087 acres with a nice ranch home, from saving a nickel a week! We sure cannot do that now. What we didn't think about. What we missed! The all natural ways they lived. BOYAH! As Stuart Scott would say.

My grandmother has kept an acre garden for as long as I can remember. According to my mom, since she was a little girl. I always told myself. I will never place out a garden. It was so much work. Why, when I can just buy my vegetables from the store. WRONG thinking when you are a young adult. At my current age, this is hitting home.

The vegetables you buy, in a store, have been processed. Same as the "fresh vegetables" from the Fresh Produce section. The treatments they use, and the process of them. Is one to question. If you put out your own garden, you know what you have done to keep that garden productive. What chemical, if any you used. These chemicals are what I question. These chemicals to treat our meats, and our vegetables, are harmful to our bodies. We go by what "they tell us". Sadly, we want to believe that our food is safe. We never know for sure, and we must take our health into our own hands at this day and age.

If "back in history," they lived off the land. Why are we not doing the same? It is work to take care of a garden. However, there are numerous Farmers Markets. Are you taking your health to a better level with the use of the Farmers Markets?

Back in time. Even further back than my grandmother. Living off the land was the only way. Granted that deaths were of a different nature. You still had those who lived strong and a long time. They learned that certain figs, and berries were available. To nourish their bodies, and used for medicine. Those figs, and berries still exist.  As well as certain vegetables and fruits not known or advertised to public. We should know of them and allow us to utilize them. We can! Research, and see what can be offered to your new healthy lifestyle.
